Does adding support for the gridseed units mean that you will start supporting SHA mining as well? I would love to just have a single raspi manage all the mining!
The aim of Scripta is mainly to run scrypt mining units, but we will probably support also the BTC mining (only for the gridseed untis). For pure BTC mining units (BFL, bitfury etc.etc minepeon or multiminer are great softwares resources.

+1 to Scripta support for Gridseed dual-miners... :)

Thought about my #3 above...
I think it could be that both the BTC and LTC chips are powered up even though minerd is only sending work to the LTC chips.  I recall reading on a number of threads that if the supplied TP-LINK controller is not used to manage these miners, then each of the miners will power up both sets of chips.  So this means you get a BTC chip drawing power but not doing anything and the LTC chips getting work and hasing just fine.
This would explain why the 10 miners started to draw in more power...and since I was running all 10 off of the single 360watt silver PSU, it makes sense that it would just be overloaded -- thus the faint smell of the components heating up.
Edit:  I have a replacement silver PSU on the way and should arrive today.  Once I get it I'll go back to a 2 PSU setup and re-run my test of the Scripta/RasPi setup.
Thank you for the feedback!
I discussed it with drfranz and he said that he will try to disable the BTC core (for LTC mining solo). I'll let you know when I know more about!
Ok, so I just completed my test, using DrFranz's version of minerd running off the Scripta image on a RasPi...
I can confirm the power consumption I saw yesterday:
Watts on LightingASIC controller:  ~108
Watts on Scripta/minerd/RasPi:  ~479
So it does seem to indicate that the BTC core is still getting power even though its not doing any actual hashing.
Thank you again! I am glad that is working fine, and we will try to sort out the power issue soon.

Staying on the gridseed support theme, this is 1 dualminer unit (kindly provided by the dualminer team: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=409756.0;topicseen) running on Scripta. Running at 70KH/sec.

So this works now with the dualminers? Not the round ones the other ones?

edit

Ah remaining. lol

Remaining...you are right! I meant staying on topic!
Yes the plan is to get scripta to run smoothly with dualminer, gridseed roundminers and ltcgear products. Next release and github in progress.

First of all I would like to say that I love the SCRIPTA project, and i bought my first Raspberry PI just to use this. So far it's working great although i was wandering if it would be possible to add Wi-Fi support? Also maybe the ability to flash the Scriptor 8X boards from inside of the program? Thanks for all your hard work!

Hello! Thank you for the feedback and for the suggestions! We are working on the github and we are currently listing the features we would like to include and I will definitely add these two to the list! Tnx

Thanks! on a side note i tried to add wireless connection myself by SSH in and adding it through Linux, but i couldn't get my wireless card to connect to my network. It also broke Scripta in the process so i'm not sure if it's even possible to do it outside of the Scripta program. Although I will admit my Linux skills are not on par with my Windows Skills.

Any guess on how many round gridseed miners the Raspberry Pi can support?

I've successfully run 10 off of a RasPi....I used Scripta as the base image and added on the custom minerd that DrFranz created.

The only catch is that the BTC chip is still enabled so its drawing lots of power but not doing any hashing.  DrFranz is working on that.

What kind of hash rates are you getting? What speed(s) can you run them at?

I didn't get a chance to run it very long because I was running all 10 of 1 PSU (my 2nd one burned out)...and since the minerd doesn't disable the BTC core I noticed that the power spiked and my last PSU would have burned out if I kept going...so I quickly shut it all down.  I plan on doing a proper test run this weekend so I'll let you know.

Edit:  The Frequency setting is not yet working on DrFranz's version of minerd...he's still working on that as well.

Anyone have thoughts on the Scriptor 8x vs Gridseed 5?

Hi guys,

Getting some problems after updating the firmware on the Scriptor 8x to the new ones....

I'm launching cgminer by hand.. scripta is not launching it... I modified it outside the scripta yes.. But only to change the url+user+pass

With the old firmware (the one that does only 130Khs ) it works...

Also. The new firmware on Windows WOrks... But beekeeper sent a new cgminer...

Quote from Chris post:

Hi,

Please check website for new firmware bundles (fpga + mcu + cgminer win32 + other executables). Most boards were shipped with power test firmware.
Link is here:
http://ltcgear.com/document/firmware-bundles/
Will add higher speed bundles tomorrow after I test them.

Kind Regards,
Chris
