Hi. So I was running everything, and I got till "make -j4 -f makefile.unix USE_UPNP=", so I changed 'j4' to 'j2' because I have two core's. I tried running it, and all I got were error messages "make: makefile.unix: No such file or directory
make: *** No rule to make target `makefile.unix'.  Stop." I'm not that very good with stuff for the terminal, so does anyone have a solution or work-around so I can install this?

Hi everyone! this guide is the best i've found so far, great work !
I'm a total newbie about litecoin, so i'd like to ask a few questions i'll appreciate all the feedback, i'm here to learn :)
First i have:
ubuntu 13.10
ati radeon hd 6870
3g ram
intel core duo

I've followed all the instructions and the server is running, but how am i supposed to get litecoins? I mean i don't have a wallet so i can't collect any
Do i have to install a mining software and then create a wallet ?
thanks for the help and sorry for my bad english :)

First of all you need to create wallet and after that start mining.

Bump. This guide is still valid for the latest versions of the LTC daemon

I am confused between litecoind and litecoin-qt.
I am trying to Solo Mine with my Asic.
At present it is running in a p2pool node but with very high stale share rates.
I have downloaded Litecoind and have it running up to speed with the network.
I have my miner connected to my server through a router.

Am I correct in understanding that all I need to do now, is to restart litecoind running as a server
# ./litecoind -server

and then point my miner to it  ( http://localhost:9333 ) with my username & password

I have read something somewhere about needing to open my wallet.
At present I do not have a wallet on my server.
How can I create a wallet from the Ubuntu command line ?

Any thoughts ?

Since the current litecoin version on git does no longer include a "makefile.unix" I am afraid this guide does no longer work :(

Unix Build Notes

Alternatively, you can just install the litecoin dev binaries from the dev site if you can't compile yourself or don't want to.

After you read the docs, I'm sure any questions or problems can be answered in the litecoin core 0.10.2.2 thread.
