This thread should be locked and OP removed, so new users will stay away from this pool. And it should not be unlocked until coinotron is no longer a threat to the network.

It doesn't matter if pool op is trustworthy or not, and it doesn't matter that he's opening dialogue. Even with a trustworthy pool op, all it would take for a 51% attack is this one pool to be hacked. For the sake of the litecoin network, mods need to take action.

And coinotron, seriously, do something meaningful to reduce your hashrate.

Our hashrate dropped by about 20% ( from 115 to 93 GH/s )

As a owner of MuPool.com i can tell you that its easiely possible for a pool owner to cut the hashpower off.
Its just a piece of custom software you have to implement.(less then 1hour work)

Coinatron just dont want to cut the hashpower down..
So we cant do anything except for hoping that some of the miners are going to switch the pool.
I still dont get why people mine at this high amount of fees..

Pretty strange.. your hashpower is now below 50%, but theres a new unknown LTC-Address (LeqxgQ1TZtG2KzfxGB47FUAeJjk2QMDRjo) Mining with exactly the amount of your missing hashpower.

If you take them together (your ~40% and the amount of ~10% unknown) it seems you just created a new address to trick us!

Eh, conspiracy theories. Sadly, I cannot proof that that address is not mine. Also I cannot proof that I don't own 2 or 3 other big LTC pools. There is 1000 things I cannot proof that I'm not involved in.
Over 40 GH/s was moved out of Coinotron. They probably mine in private pools. Why didn't they join other pools - that is interesting question. :)

As long as the hash power is not all within one pool we are ok.

My largest issue is not that I didn't trust coinotron, its that if his pool was hacked when he had a large amount of hash power, the hacker could damage the network. That was the main issue all along.

This is a strange 'industry' the 51% issue is a huge weakness causing so much angry conversations and talk of hidden agenda etc.

Surely the answer is for the way LTC is operating itself to change in some way as this topic will always keep repeating itself??

I am really hoping for a new p2pool solution where profits are just as good as these PPS pools....
Wait there already are.

LTC should be the first coin to switch over primarily to p2pool.

Hi coinotron,

Please seriouslyconsider signing up to the Safe Hash Rate Alliance, which is sponsored by the Litecoin association in order to be proactive instead of reactive in keeping the Litecoin Network Safe. Thank you
