Hacking KNC Titans back to life

Hi everyone!

A number of people have approached me on bitcointalk, and I thought I would set up an account here as well. I'm the guy who is figuring out the Titans because it just had to be done and it's interesting. Tarkin has the software side set up, I've been getting there on the hardware side.

So far I can fix the following:

Blown power connectors on Titan cubes
Incinerated power connectors on Titan cubes
Cubes that short out the 12 volt power supply
  Cubes that shoot fire out the back of them
  (These usually wind up shorting out the 12v supply)

Controllers that constantly reboot
Little displays that don't display anymore.

Interesting, Ill check out your thread. I currently know very little about the titans but would like to find out more. I know cores not functioning is a big issue - what causes this? Can it be fixed or is it an issue with the ASIC chip itself?

Um....

That's really scary. Mind posting this over at btctalk as well as a warning? Or if you don't have URL/posting I could do it.

The thing is that kind of lifting can cause all sorts of havoc with ground loops through the 10 pin connectors and the like. That's going to destroy something.

Very interesting though. And on a side note, is this the best forum to place this, or is there more of a mining hardware discussion forum here?

By the way, I'm running two miners here, one is a stock reference one running at 275mhz, the other is my repaired one running at 225mhz. Note the power, DC-DC temp difference, and other differences. It's a lot of extra oomph to get that magical extra 10mh....
