Hello,

I am very new to this crypto-currency universe, but I have been hearing more and more about it to the point where my interest has made me research about it. I have read the basics and now I want to give it a try.

My first challenge is installing a wallet on my computer. I am running Linux Mint, and I have downloaded the file for Linux, but there is no application file. Am I wrong to assume that it is ran through the console? if so, how? is there a visual interface for it?

Thank you for your help!

Did you download from litecoin.org?

There should be an executable file...

Thank you for your reply.

I did download the file for Linux. I opened it and in the Bin folder I see 6 files but none of them are executable. They all seemed to be shared library files. Is there a special way to execute these files?

There should be a file called litecoin-qt inside of the bin folder. You may need to right click and go into properties, and tick "executable" (or something similar).

You should be able to just double click on it and it should run.

Make sure you have downloaded the correct version for your OS type. Open a terminal and type uname -m. If it comes back with x86_64 you need the 64-bit version, if it comes back with i386, i686 or just x86 then you need the 32-bit version.
