The Little Things Every Newbie Should Know About the Stock Market

Why invest in the stock market?

Ask yourself  and DO invest in the stock market if;

    You would like your money to work for you. Instead of the other way around.
    You would like to boost our local economy (You would then be included in the 3% of the total population in our country that invests in the stock market - elite much?! haha)
    You'd like to increase your financial literacy.

Do NOT invest if;

    You would like to stay an employee all your life and depend on your company's retirement plan.
    You would like to believe in the myths about the stock market forever.
    You would like to stay financially illiterate forever.

3%?!  which country is that?

I think most people actually invest in the stock market, whether they know it or not.  Most people have a pension plan, and that money is invested in all kinds of things by the pension fund manager(s).

In my country (UK), many people invest in funds, and funds of funds etc., without even knowing what they are really investing in (whether stocks/shares, bonds, gilts, commodities, forex, property, etc).  Also, most funds, managed deposits and so on allow the manager to change the individual holdings within funds as when he/she feels its best to do so.

All the best
