It's been 2 days a long time since Litecoinlocal shut down (Read on Reddit), and it's been relaunched under NEW MANAGEMENT. The previous owner wouldn't give us the old domain, so we're now available at https://www.litecoinlocal.net (instead of .org)

Trade with users in your area with Cash or Cash Deposit.

Trade online with SEPA, SWIFT, Faster Payments, PayPal, Skrill, or many other payment methods to buy or sell Litecoins!

Update: As part of our work to make the new site much more transparent, we've made all account addresses, balances, and cold storage addresses public. We've signed each address with "Owned by Litecoinlocal.net" to make it clear that we are in control of your funds, and that they are safe. This way you know we're not running a fractional reserve (unlike MtGox). Visit the audit page HERE

What does this mean for old users?

  • Your balance has been reset to 0. It's safe to deposit, but your previous balances are gone. You need to contact Dennis Haggblom (AKA Litecoinlocal on Reddit) regarding your old balance. We CANNOT help you with this.
  • Any open or disputed trades from the OLD SITE have been closed. We don't have access to the old funds to handle these, and we cannot refund any LTC related to these (please contact Dennis Haggblom (the previous owner) as previously stated)
  • Litecoinlocal is now run by myself (Someguy123), and the last developer from Litecoinlocal, Kale (https://kryogenic.org/)
  • The exchange section is gone. It wasn't profitable, and nobody was using it. Instead we're going to prioritize local trading, and listen to feature enhancements from our users rather than work on an unrelated exchange
  • Full details on the announcement post here: https://www.litecoinlocal.net/news/24
  • Please. Do NOT message us about your lost balances. We cannot help you. Direct all balance and cancelled trade queries to Dennis Haggblom (previous owner with your funds)

How do I get my litecoins back from the old site?

You'll need to contact the OLD MANAGEMENT who was the only person with access to your coins.

Name: Dennis Häggblom

IRC (freenode): skinnkavaj
Reddit: Send a message to Litecoinlocal

Glad to see it back up!  This is a service that would've been tough to lose for an extended period of time.  Thanks for getting it back up so quickly!

Not sure if I will be able to trust my LTC any longer on litecoinlocal. As for my buyers. I won't be surprised if they keep me responsible for losing their LTC.

Apologies. It's out of our hands. Have you tried contacting Dennis (the old owner)? He claimed to be refunding top traders like yourself.

I can assure you that your coins are safe on the new Litecoinlocal, we will be making the site as transparent as possible, including making our cold storage addresses signed and public, and detailing all security procedures taken by the new management to ensure the safety of such. Sadly, as many have learned, it's never a good idea to keep a large portion of your coins on an exchange; I would recommend as many others do, to keep your coins in your own wallet, and only put them into an exchange when you want to trade them.

Contacted him on friday and I keep contacting him. I did receive a message on one of the trades:

'I am deeply sorry for any lost litecoins. https://www.reddit.com/r/litecoin/comments/2jh2s8/litecoinlocal_is_closing_down/'

But I'm not sure if this is from him or you guys?

Gladly I always kept my LTC in cold storage. But as for the active trades. You can't protect those LTC from being lost. So far no solution is given. I won't refund my buyers as it is not my fault, but they will keep me resposible as for already having payed and not receiving any LTC.

AFAIK on the trade that's from us. We closed any active trades which were copied over, since we don't have access to the old LTCLOCAL funds (they were kept in a cold wallet operated by Dennis) to pay for them.

I understand that your buyers aren't happy with what has happened, but we can't do anything from here. Dennis is the person who had access to the funds belonging to that trade, and your account balance. I'm sure that with your good reputation, you'll still be able to find new buyers and continue your great service despite all that has happened.

Awesome news!

The exchange section is gone.
Smart move.

Could you add an API (ticker with volume and last price)?

Another hack was done where someone gained access to our database over a longer period and manipulated it in such a way that it is no longer possible to determine real user balances versus fake ones.
Is litecoinlocal.net based on the same script/server set up?

We'll look into that. Right now the ticker you see when creating a trade is just taken from the BTC-e average, so most buyers will be somewhere around that anyway.

I believe this was before I came in and re-coded everything, I don't remember this happening after I re-built the site from scratch. The servers are completely separate and owned by me, they aren't even from the same provider as the previous management used. The script we use is custom-made by myself and the other developer mainly, I built it with high security standards so that shouldn't be possible any-more.

i don't understand why you only waited 2 days? surly it takes longer than that to fix the issues?

keeping the same name and saying the other peoples balances are not in your control is wrong! you need to at least provide direct contract to the owner if you were the dev's then help people get there funds back!

We never had "direct contact" with the owner to be honest. I will publish some of his contact details in the original post (should be up in less than 10 minutes)

As for the "issues", they were fixed months ago when we re-coded the entire site, we never had any new hacks since then, but the hacks mentioned by the old owner happened long before I was even employed

Update: We're still alive and slowly growing, but we're still far from the level of activity that the old Litecoinlocal once was. Months have passed now and the new site is running great, we just need more active users so that we can provide a good experience to the Litecoin community.

I'd Like to report the following person:

euposti

He bought some LTC for € 440,- on trade 15860. I just received a letter from my bank with a request to agree to returning the funds to STRAUSS WERNER 97297 WALDBU ETTELBRUNN. I'd like to advise anyone to not do any business with the person. As soon as you see that the above person transfered funds to your account just cancel the trade.

As to the admin. Could you please ban euposti and block his IP?
