The Litecoin Defense Force
« on: July 24, 2014, 05:14:48 PM »
Someone mentioned that dogecoin had a "Dogecoin Defense Force" sub on reddit. The purpose seems to be to give out achievements to miners who mine on the doge network, as a further incentive to mine (since I guess the economic incentive is pretty low). While I dont necessarily know how great an idea that is, the name sounded super cool, so I picked up the domains: litecoinDefenseForce.com and theLitecoinDefenseForce.com. Perhaps we can come up with an idea for it.

I could even see it being some sort of lobbying organization or something years down the road. But I'm not super keen on that idea either.

So anyone got any ideas? What could we do to perhaps address problems like the 51% attack on Litecoin, or perhaps some sort of fund/insurance to protect consumers. Pretty much just throwing ideas out there. What do you all think?

How about holding people accountable for scams, litecoin theft, warning noobs, etc?

Could you elaborate? How do you think we'd be able to do that?

Its kinda interesting that the listed pools who have pledge to the alliance are all not even close to to 20%, or in the top 10 in hash distribution, at least according to here: https://www.litecoinpool.org/pools

Doesn't matter , fact is we have such a alliance where no other coin has this , now if more people would mine at these pools that would be great.Perhaps you can use your websites to promote this.

Couple other ideas:

  • A "Geek Squad" sort of support/troubleshooting service. Help people who have problems however we can. Though perhaps in order to do this, there might need to be some sort of other type of infrustructure built, because I'm not entirely sure how we'd go about this.
  • Saw some where people complaining about a particular ASIC manufacturer. Perhaps we could provide a sort of "Consumer Report", rank and rate business in and related to the litecoin economy, and even give awards like "Rated #1 in Customer support" or whatever. Kinda like those car company rankings, etc.
  • I really like the culture going on with the Dogecoin Defense Force http://www.reddit.com/r/DogecoinDefenseForce/ .... perhaps using a similar culture to further incentivize people to be on a p2p pool and perhaps make a 51% attack even less likely in the future of litecoin. Something like that.
