KopiemTu 2.0 - Nvidia 750Ti USB linux. Cuda 6.5 !!
« on: March 06, 2014, 12:27:59 AM »
Simple, Solid & Stable
64-bit lubuntu based Linux for new Nvidia cards (340.32 driver)

Most Important Statement:
If you are not familiar with linux - still there is no problem at all, because Midnight Commander
( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Midnight_Commander ) is installed for you.
Become root via "sudo su - ", then type: mc <Enter>
And edit configuration files in /etc/kopiemtu via F4. And reboot! ('two-minutes" setup, real Plug&Play ;) )

New v2.0 mod from Induktor!:

This is the Induktor KopiemTu 2.0 mod, modified with the following features:
- Image resized to fit a 16gb flash drive (required 16gb flash or bigger) tested on a sandisk cruzer blade 16gb
- Installed driver 346 to support new GTX 970/980 GPUs
- Installed CUDA 6.5.19 to support new GTX 970/980 GPUs
- Git clone, compiled and installed the following miners: ccminer-djm34 and ccminer-sp (April 10 - 2015)
- added a small script on /opt/kopiemtu/minute.sh to add very basic GPU temperatures and fan speed  monitoring on the web page, when monitor is not working (new driver, broke monitor functionality somehow, until JK_14 (the dev) or we  :D can fix it, this is a very basic backup, at least we can see the gpu's temperatures :)

It's  BIG! 16GB, compressed with 7-zip in LZMA2 insane settings (took about an hour)
The result it's a 5.2GB heavily compressed file, splitted into 700MB Chunks.

CCminer/Cudaminer modification HOWTO:
https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=16800.msg192939#msg192939

Pendrive creation (8GB is necessary) - you can use for example:
http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/
(or 'dd' command in Linux, run 'rescue' boot option for multiple simultaneous 'dd' instances)

If you have DHCP server in your network and headless PC - use any ssh client to connect with new assigned IP:
root (pass: live)

From GUI - just open Konsole icon and type:
sudo su - <Enter>
(pass: live)

Quick Guide:

Configuration files: /etc/kopiemtu/
(do not edit miner.conf - edit other files and use 'mine switch' )
Set your pools, workers, passwords properly here - and whole hashrate mine for you only and forever.

mine start <Enter>      - start mining
mine stop <Enter>      - stop mining
mine switch <Enter>    - switch configuration files
mine status <Enter>   - status
screen -r <Enter>         - control cudaminer / terminate via Ctrl-c / escape via Ctrl-a d
monitor start <Enter>   - start statistics & monitoring (automatic failover and reboot)
monitor stop <Enter>   - stop statistics & monitoring
monitor status <Enter> - status

Master rig only commands:

mine start|switch|stop w2 (remote worker w2)
mine start|switch|stop all   (all workers)
monitor start|stop w12
monitor start|stop all

To convert normal rig into master rig - on your favorite rig type:
Code: [Select]
tar -xPvf /root/master.tgz

Then edit file: /etc/kopiemtu/master.txt
(please remove all inadvisable, example IP addresses from this file)

After that - script 'master' is available and you must run it first (type: master <Enter>
and run again - only if you have a new rig in your network)
Asked - type 'yes', then type given remote rig root password ('live' if you didn't change it for something else)

Then, you can use also:
master w12
master all
- it will propagate content of master IP directories (now you can work with your configuration files at only one place)

Amazing!

I'll have to give it a shot as soon as I get a 750 ti.

No nvidia cards atm...

This is great, I'm getting 10 750 ti's soon and may buy a bunch more if they work out. I will give this a try and if it works well I will be sure to give you a donation.
Thanks for working on stuff for the 750 ti, I feel like miners aren't seeing their full potential and ignoring them.  :-\

Oh one other thing, what about adding Vertminer for scrypt-n?
It would be good for more variety use, and if asics flood scrypt then we have a viable switchover with this already.

Brilliant, thanks.

I will give it a try with my 780s and in a few weeks with the 750TIs.

Thanks,

There is a separate mining configuration file named vertcoin.conf, for VTC mining.
Cudaminer support many coins, one of them is Vertcoin. So this system is "VTC friendly" :)

P.S.
Actually, default mining coin there is Vertcoin, cause it seems that GPU mining future is:
Nvidia & Vertcoin
:)

Interesting, saving me some work :)

I tried to make it with a structure similar to BAMT, to avoid unnecessary confusion.
And make things as simple as can be.
Everyone familiar with BAMT will have no problem with using it :)

You should get aprox. 270kH/s with no overclocked Gigabyte 750 Ti Windforce :)

Additionally, I like to use Kubuntu as a cold storage with wallets, and with symbolic links to temporary mounted laptop hard drive, with blockchains alone.

and important thing, I hope lack of failover in cudaminer should be solved in some near future:

Yes, please, if you would be so kind :)
and maybe single zip 3GB archive is better then 5x 650MB...
(I had permanent upload failures above 1GB, maybe it was my ISP policy, I'm not sure)

Not yet, pro BTC board should arrive today but i finished the upload (at work) :)

http://88.198.74.99/kopiemtu-1.0.zip

Downloading it to my home machine right now, verifying if the zip is okay. Guess the testing itself will have to wait till monday though -.-
